Meet Claire

Claire is a dedicated speech pathologist who is passionate about helping children thrive in a joyful and supportive environment.

Claire graduated from Flinders University with a Master of Speech Pathology. Prior to her speech pathology studies, Claire graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Behavioural Science. 

Over the past eight years, Claire has gained experience working in a variety of paediatric settings, including schools and private practices across Melbourne and Tasmania.

Claire specialises in supporting children in the areas of language, speech sounds, literacy and fluency (stuttering), offering comprehensive assessment and intervention services within these areas of practice.

Areas of Support

  • Speech Sound Difficulties / Delays

    Difficulty producing speech sounds (e.g. lisps, sound substitutions, deletions of sounds from words etc). 

  • Expressive Language

    Using words to verbally convey messages, thoughts, ideas and feelings. 

    Using appropriate sentence structure and grammar. 

    Vocabulary development.

  • Stuttering / Fluency

    Using smooth and flowing speech to communicate verbally. 

    Can be effected by the presence of ‘stuttering’, characterised by verbal repetitions, blocking (getting ‘stuck’ on words), excessive use of ‘filler’ words (e.g. “ummm, ummm, ummm”) and/or prolongations of sounds.

  • Social Communication

    Understanding and use of verbal and nonverbal communication within social situations. 

    The ability to participate in play, social interactions and to vary communication for social purposes (e.g. adjusting communication styles to match the conversation partner, taking other people’s perspectives).

  • Receptive Language

    Understanding verbal and written communication. 

    Following verbal instructions. 

  • Literacy & Pre-Literacy

    Reading, writing and spelling.

    Phonological Awareness (such as identifying, blending and segmenting sounds to form words, identifying syllables).
